Our Review.
The Friheten was introduced after the discontinuation of its predecessor, the Manstad. While the Friheten functions similarly to the Manstad sofa bed and has a storage compartment under its chaise, it now allows you to change the sofa bed’s configuration by assembling the chaise on the left or right side of the sofa.
The “armrest” on the sofa seat side is also level with as the seats, allowing taller people to stretch their legs more easily without feeling squished up. One of the only downsides to this really budget-friendly sofa bed is that it comes upholstered, which makes cleaning cumbersome.
Thankfully, we have found a way to slipcover the Friheten in its entirety so you can customize it how you like and leave the cleaning for the washing machine. Design your own Friheten sofa bed slipcover today!

Hi. I can only find covers for the FRIHETEN chaise type sofa but not the three seater regular one. Already dropped a query but was wondering if you make covers for the straight FRIHETEN sofa bed (not chaise lounge). Or if there is something available that Skipped my eye on your websitr

Hi Muniba,
We’ve actually explored creating a slipcover for the Friheten 3 seater (without chaise) but due to the way the sofa is constructed, with the back that flips down to form the bed, it’s just not possible for us to create a slipcover that will transform with the sofa, like the older Friheten 3 seater with chaise. Really sorry about that 🙁
But it might be possible for us to create a simple slipcover that will go over your sofa that will have to be removed when you want to use the sofabed function, if you were interested? Feel free to email us at info@comfortworks.com.au

How easy is it really to move the chaise lounger portion to the other side? Are there any resources available to help in changing the configuration, aside from the regular instruction manual?
by Chuck
Hey Chris!
It should be fairly straightforward albeit tedious — the regular instruction manual is all you really need to disassemble and assemble the sofa again 🙂
Alternatively Youtube usually would have assembly videos such as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueTPK3Cd4-M
Hope this helps!

Thank you for the quick reply Chuck! I’ll power through it!

No worries Chris,
Good luck and have fun! 🙂

We got the couch because we loved it at the store. However, once we brought it home, my roommate set it up and we noticed that the pull out couch section does not pop up easily. Did we do something wrong or are some of them duds?
by Chuck
Not a 100% sure Marc, as far as we know it should pop out fine especially if it’s new. Our Manstad has been with us for the longest time so it’s a bit hard to get the sofa bed out but when it was brand new it was fine.
Probably check with IKEA?

How would you disassemble this couch? I’m worried specifically about these screws: http://imgur.com/a/5T25n . When I try to unscrew them only the head comes off, leaving the threads in place.
by Chuck
Hey Bob!
Not exactly which part this screw is from but in general, it’s best to follow the instructions in reverse – if it’s necessary to remove these screws I’d recommend getting a small container ready to collect these screws so they don’t get lost while disassembling the sofa 🙂
Hope this helps!
