8 ways to use benches, bench cushions & boxed cushions indoors

Benches are probably the most underrated seating apparatus. Not many people would go for them and many assume that benches belong in the Outdoor section at Walmart.

What they don’t know is that this versatile piece works wonders indoors too.

They usually have bench cushions or boxed cushions as add-ons and those are great for decorating on their own as well. Value for money, right?

You’d only need to change the bench cushion covers and boxed cushion covers from time to time, move them around and you get a new interior, every time.

If you are looking for decor ideas but have very little real estate to work with, you’re gonna love these.

 

As Living Room Dividers

Benches make great dividers in the living room and you can create a quiet, lounging area by adding a bench to your existing seating plan. Benches with and without bench cushions work equally well, so it’s just a matter of comfort.

Secret Hack: Add a few boxed cushions and/or knife-edged cushions to your bench and it’ll double as a daybed. Just in case you need to stretch out and relax after a long day.

As a Coffee Table

Putting a square bench in the center of your living room seating layout gives you the freedom to use the bench as both a seating area and a coffee table.

As Window Seats

Place a bench by the window and you’ll have a sunlit area with a view that’s great for a relaxing read. They also make amazing reading corners in any nooks you may have in the living room. Benches with storage areas help keep the books tidy too.

Place a storage bench at the foot of your bed and you’ll have extra seating area that works as a repository for all the extra bits. This a great option in for the kids’ room and you won’t have to worry about stepping on Lego anymore.

A long, tufted bench by the sink would make morning make-up sessions a lot more fabulous. Add a few bolsters or boxed cushions at the end and give it a truly royal look.

Get the Bench Off the Bench

Who says you can’t use a bench indoors? You absolutely can and it not only will give you extra seating space but it adds a minimalist flair to your indoor decor.

Plus, you can use the bench cushions any way you like. Throw them on the floor and you’ll have a tiny tatami. Prop them up against something and you have a floor chair. We’re just bursting with ideas on benches and their cushions.
