Our 9 favourite up-cycling ideas around the house

Open your eyes to the many uses of old and every day things. Things that you might have thought about throwing out. Well no more, because today we have 9 different, interesting ideas for upcycling items around your house!

1. Use Frisbees for paper plate support

Paper Plate Support is also the name of my next indie alt band. But in all seriousness, it gives quite a bit of support especially when your plates are flimsy under the weight of all the meat you need.

2. An old door becomes a full length mirror frame

it’s the entrance to all your dreams and fears. But only if you make a secret room and hang this mirror in front of it. Not that I’d do such a thing.

3. Turn a notice board into a jewellery board

A fashion conscious lady like you needs somewhere to hang her haul from Etsy. And you get the bonus of being able to show off.

4. Marble at my un-holey fence!

Life is like a fence filled with marbles. I’m not sure where this analogy is going and neither is anyone about life. But it sure looks pretty, so enjoy it while it lasts!

5.Stick a knife in it!

Take a box, fill it with skewers and behold. A knife holder for any knife! I actually use this and it works pretty great, plus it looks cool.

6. Tidy up those cables on your desk with paper clips

Makes it easy to find that specific charger for your iPad, or iPhone. No more scrabbling under your desk for this, plus you don’t need anything fancy as paper clips litter every office.

7. Class up your serving trays

Use old picture frames as serving trays, pop a classy image or paper inside for best results. You’ll be sipping tea n crumpets with your pinky out in no time.

8. Hide your booze classily with an old card catalogue

Every drawer has it’s own bottle, plus you can easily label each drawer and section. You don’t have to finish them all alone, that’s what friends are for. Or hide your alcoholism from friends and family, classily. The choice is yours!

9. Class up an old IKEA sofa with a custom slipcover

An old sofa bed given a makeover in superbly classy Herringbone. Warning: covers do not come with dog. Although we wish they did. There would be so much not-working going on in the office if they did.

There you have it! 9 fun ways to class up and upcycle your house. I hope you’ve found this useful and give it a shot 🙂
