Covers for old & discontinued IKEA Ektorp sofas

This post details each different measurements along with its sizes on each Ektorp sofa model. It will also cover all the measurements and images of the discontinued IKEA Ektorp sofas such as the 2 seater sofa bed, corner 2+2 sofa bed, chaise lounge with armrest(s), Tullsta armrest and 2+2 Corner sofa.

Sizes are written as Width x Depth x Height – that’s the 2 widest points of the couch, the depth of the sofa armrest as well as the height from floor up to armrests (not to the top of the back cushions).

Also note that these are the measurements of the Sofa and not the actual slipcovers it self. Depending on the fabric choice, the slipcovers will be sewn accordingly to accommodate fabric stretch & fitting. Hope this helps.

    I saw you answered that a 2-seater Ektorp sofa cover won’t fit a 2-seater sofabed. Will a 3-seater Ektorp cover fit a 3-seater sofabed?

Thanks so much for having all the answers!

      No worries Liz,

      Unfortunately the measurements for the Ektorp 3 seater sofa bed and Ektorp 3 seater are completely different despite having a similar shape;

At the largest width, the 3 seater sofa bed is about 10cm larger than the 3 seater meaning the covers aren’t going to fit for sure.

      Hope this helps!

Hi, I have 3 of the Ektorp Bakamo 2-seater sofas purchased around 2000, they are definitely Ektorp. They were originally styled with 4 large back cushions and 2 smaller ones, (1 each end) I have since had 2 new back cushions made for each sofa (as is the current style of the 2 seater Ektorp)
The measurements for these sofas at widest points are: W 196cm D 93cm H70cm.
I sent for replacement Ektorp covers from Ikea, but they were far too small.
I notice, looking at your measurements for the 2 seater Ektorp sofa, that these measurements are also much smaller than my sofas.
Would I have to have new covers made to measure?
    Regards
    Cheryl Seek

      Hi Cheryl,

I think you might have mistaken a couple of models together – the Ektorp and Backamo are two different product lines from IKEA so our slipcovers will only work for the original model that you purchased at IKEA itself.

Having said that, it’s best to send a photo to us at info@comfortworks.com.au so we can determine exactly which model you have and whether we already have existing template for it to provide you covers with.

Otherwise, you might need new covers made-to-measure instead.

      Hope this helps!

      Hi Michelle,

As far as we know, the Ektorp with chaise dimensions have remained the same but if you want to be a 100% sure, you can always send us a picture of your sofa firstly followed by measurements to confirm.

      Hope this helps!

          Hey Peter,

This could be the case for some regions but we’re not sure – you may have to check with your local IKEA. As fas as we know, certain countries (ie. Malaysia) still carry the Ektorp 3 Seater sofa, loveseat, armchair and ottoman.

          Good luck! 🙂

    Hi !
I recently bought an Ektorp armchair cover but it doesn’t fit my Ektorp armchair .It is too small.
The armchair is quite a few years old. Have the dimensions of the chairs changed?
I’ve bought other Ektorp covers for the sofas and they fit fine

      Hey Mary,

From what we’ve seen so far, the measurements of the Ektorp armchair are pretty consistent for the past 10 years or so, unless yours is even older than that? You might just want to compare the overall dimensions to check 🙂

I am moving to Bethesda MD in the beginning of September. I am looking to purchase a used IKEA EKTORP sofa bed.I can find tons of covers on line but no EKTORP sleepers for sale.

Why did IKEA discontinue EKTORP sleeper sofas as the EKTORP sofa line is popular?

      Hi Richard,

I believe IKEA discontinued the Ektorp sleeper sofa due to the way of accessing the sofabed.
There are much easier sofabed functions that are more user friendly.

IKEA does have some lovely newer sofa bed models that are worth checking out.
We even have a review on them: https://www.comfort-works.com/news/top-ikea-sofa-beds-review/

      Hope this helps!
