Status Check.
Status: Sofa and Slipcover are available from IKEA, but for some reason the slipcovers are always out of stock.
Slipcover: IKEA Kivik slipcovers available from Comfort Works
Measurements: IKEA Kivik sofa dimensions and measurements.
Cool Factor: Large, spacious, contemporary and modern looking. It has large armrests that serve as additional seating and the armrests can be detached when joining the Kivik with any other Kiviks to create a Kivik sectional.
Ugh Factor: Unnaturally low armrests which just doesn’t feel quite right. It’s also a little pricier than expected.

Our Review.
We were so excited to try the KIVIK for ourselves that we took the day to visit the IKEA store just see how the KIVIK felt in person. To read our full reviews and first impressions on the sofa, click here.
In short, the Kivik is actually quite a looker and somewhat comfortable for an IKEA sofa – but it’s just a little bit pricey.
Although this model is still available at IKEA stores, Comfort Works offers slipcovers in alternative fabric and leather options for this model. Check out our loose fit long skirt Kivik slipcovers as well for the 2 seater & 3 seater models.

Do you know if the kivik can be fully disassembled so I can move it from my parents place to my basement (which has a very narrow entrance)?
Thank you!
by Naomi
Heya Cathy,
As a modular unit, the Kivik models are definitely able to fully disassemble such that both arms detach from the frame. All you will need is the IKEA Kivik assembly manual (links available in the blog post) and follow it in reverse wherever needed. It’s definitely much easier to accomplish with a partner 🙂
Good luck!

Do you have the measurements for a single Kivik loveseat cushion versus a single Kivik sofa cushion? I am trying to remember which we have, and this would be very helpful info! Thank you!
by Naomi
Hey Nicole!
The Kivik loveseat vs sofa sections can be easily distinguished by comparing their overall width from the front, arm-to-arm.
Kivik sofa (3-seater) – 228 cm / 90″
Kivik loveseat – 190 cm / 75″
We typically don’t use cushion measurements simply because they do have the tendency to compress over time, and this may cause their dimensions to change slightly. Strange, I know! But the frame being firm, stays more or less the same 🙂
Hope this helps.
Ps* We actually seem to get similar questions on how to tell apart Kivik models – just wondering if anyone else has the same concern/why this is so? Let us know your thoughts – we’d love to read/hear it!

I am going to buy the kivik sofa with chaise, but I will have to go pick it up in person. I drive a Ford Escape and I am concerned that all the boxes may not fit. Should I rent some kind of van or truck? Any suggestions would be helpful, it will be a long drive for me!
by Naomi
Hey Lindsey, sorry for the late one!
I had gone ahead and checked the IKEA website for the Kivik sofa + chaise packaging size and found this:
SOFA SECTION:
Width: 36 ¾ ”
Height: 19 ¾ ”
Length: 72 ½ ”
Weight: 118 lb 1 oz
Package(s): 1
Width: 36 ¼ ”
Height: 11 ”
Length: 38 ½ ”
Weight: 53 lb 12 oz
Package(s): 1
CHAISE PACKAGE:
Width: 35 ½ ”
Height: 10 ½ ”
Length: 81 ½ ”
Weight: 98 lb 2 oz
Package(s): 1
I’m not sure about the space in a Ford Escape – but as long as it can fit some 37″ x 82″ boxes, it should be alright 🙂
Did you manage to get the Kivik you want? Tell us how it went for you!

Did you ever figure this out? I want to do that same.
by Naomi
Figure what out, Julia? 🙂
by Jenni
Where can i find instructions for putting on replacement covers on Kivik three seater sofa?
by Naomi
Hey Jenni,
It’s in the blog post! 🙂 You’ll have to disassemble your Kivik sofa following the assembly manual in reverse. Take off any existing covers, put ours on and re-assemble.
