Our Review.
The Friheten was introduced after the discontinuation of its predecessor, the Manstad. While the Friheten functions similarly to the Manstad sofa bed and has a storage compartment under its chaise, it now allows you to change the sofa bed’s configuration by assembling the chaise on the left or right side of the sofa.
The “armrest” on the sofa seat side is also level with as the seats, allowing taller people to stretch their legs more easily without feeling squished up. One of the only downsides to this really budget-friendly sofa bed is that it comes upholstered, which makes cleaning cumbersome.
Thankfully, we have found a way to slipcover the Friheten in its entirety so you can customize it how you like and leave the cleaning for the washing machine. Design your own Friheten sofa bed slipcover today!

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has tried washing the covers for the pillows of the couch. They zip off, but I’m a little nervous about putting them in the wash.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi, I have just purchased this sofabed and we have put it together however after a few days the part of the sofa which is on wheels has slipped out and we cant seem to put it back into place. Do you have tips on how it can be connected back?
by Chuck
Hi Harleen,
I’d say you should be able to put it back the way you originally assembled it, here’s some instructions: http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/assembly_instructions/friheten-chaise-for-corner-sofa-bed__AA-702253-6_pub.pdf
Check out page 15 or Images 19-20, you’ll be able to see exactly what you’re trying to latch on to 🙂
Hope this helps!

Hi Hi,
Any ideas on the best sheet sets/sizes to use for the friheten? It doesn’t look like you could use a regular fitted sheet so what are my best options?
by Chuck
Hey Jeff!
We actually use a non-fitted sheet + mattress protector for our Manstad (older brother of Friheten), and it works alright! 🙂
It’s not the prettiest, but it gets the job done. Fitted sheets probably aren’t recommended as there isn’t an exact size for it.
Hope this helps!

Hi. Our dog chewed up the cover (and some stuffing) on the chaise part, which is the piece that lifts for the storage. Just confirming that these covers work with the lift-up chaises on the Friheten. I wasn’t sure how you cover them. I sure hope so as I’d love to give the sofa new life. Thanks for your help!

Hey Chris!
Are you after just the chaise cover, or for the entire set? For the chaise portion, just think of it as a fitted cover like it’s for your mattress 🙂
The rest of it is similar except for the 3 back cushions, which we’ll use zippers for as per the original Friheten.
Hope this helps!

Hi.
I have got some dried blood on my friheten orange sofa bed. I have tried a few thighs to clean it but nothing has worked. What is the best way to clean the sofa without ruining the colour. The covers do not come off
by Chuck
Hey Charley,
Sorry to hear that – has the stain been left for quite a while now? Usually I’d try baking soda and lemon juice as my go-to stain remover but an alternative could be to simply get armrest protectors in our Kino Sunset fabric (similar to the rusty orange colour from IKEA) to hide the stain.
Hope this helps!
