Cool Factor: Slipcovers and sofa are still available in IKEA across the glove. Easy to maintain with easy to remove slipcovers. Highly modular and can be grown and configured in many ways.
Ugh Factor: Few slipcover options available on IKEA, assembly can be a bit confusing especially at the very first step – the rotating bar can be rotated, but a lot of force is needed.

Our Review
The IKEA Soderhamn is a unique yet stylish sofa design. Its thin armrests give it an extra modern and contemporary feel, however the armrest isn’t something you’d want to put your hand or head on. If you want something a little more softer, adding a few extra pillows around the arms would be a great suggestion.
Still, it’s a yes from us! One of the many plus points is that you can always build your own custom sofa set with the modular Soderhamn. Whether to fit in the corner of your living room or as a grand sectional couch sitting in the center, just purchase a few sectional components and it’ll look great.

Hi there, I recently bought new sofa feet for my Soderhamn and discovered that the feet don’t work with the screw that’s in the connector bar that attached the separate couch pieces. All of the other feet screw in fine, just not the one that needs to go where the couch pieces are joined by the bar. Is there any workaround for this? In the photo above it looks like there is a sofa foot connecting the two sofa pieces.

Hey Brittany,
Unfortunately, the couch legs aren’t compatible with the parts where the Soderhamn components are connected together. These legs are mainly compatible with the M8 bolt, so I’m afraid there isn’t exactly a way around it if you’re looking to fix the legs in the connecting areas.
All sofa/single-seater/corner pieces have 4 legs each.
Hope this helps!

If I purchased the Soderhamn corner section and a side arm section, would it be the same dimensions as the single seat section with the arms? Thanks so much!
by Naomi
Hey Erin,
Both components actually have different dimensions! Luckily since its a modular series, you’ll be able to affix them to each other anyway 🙂

Do you know the size of seat cushions?
by Naomi
Hi Anne,
Each single-seater seat cushion is approx. 96cm x 96cm.
Hope this helps 🙂

Hi Naomi,
Please can you help me.
Apparently they discontinued the footstool part of Soderhamn range and I really wanted one with my new 3 seat sofa so I thought I would purchase the 1-section seat and remove the backrest. However buying the cover for this now if I buy the cover for the footstool on eBay (as IKEA is not selling these covers anyone) will this be the same size as the original footstool?
I realise one side (where the backrest was will not have padding on the side but I’m happy to put in some sort of padding as long as the measurements add up!
Thank you!

Hey Johanna,
The Soderhamn footstool is actually not the same size as the Soderhamn 1-seat section – so the slipcovers wont work, unfortunately.
We’re not sure about the covers sold on ebay since each seller is different, but we do make covers for the entire Soderhamn line here at Comfort Works. So if you want to, you could really just get our covers and opt to purchase just the seat cushion covers + bottom frame covers of the 1-seater section from us. And if you feel like it, you could also get covers for your 3-seater to match 🙂

Hi! I have been piecing together my sectional and snagged a 3 seater sofa and a chaise lounge. I originally just purchased a vegan leather cover for the sofa and the lounger but did NOT get the armrest covers until now. When I install the armrests, do I need to puncture the new sofa cover to make room for the screws like I would with an IKEA cover? Did the 3 seater cover with armrests require the same step or are there already holes installed in the comfort works covers? Thanks!
by Naomi
Hey Sarah,
Yes – you would have to DIY puncture the holes in the armrest covers to enable them to connect to the sofa via the screws.
The Soderhamn 3-seater sofa covers (with armrests covers included) are the same way since each slipcover component come in individual pieces. It is made this way as the IKEA Soderhamn series itself is a modular design – each sofa component comes individually and can be disassembled to create virtually any configuration you want.
Hope this helps 🙂
