Cool Factor: Slipcovers and sofa are still available in IKEA across the glove. Easy to maintain with easy to remove slipcovers. Highly modular and can be grown and configured in many ways.
Ugh Factor: Few slipcover options available on IKEA, assembly can be a bit confusing especially at the very first step – the rotating bar can be rotated, but a lot of force is needed.

Our Review
The IKEA Soderhamn is a unique yet stylish sofa design. Its thin armrests give it an extra modern and contemporary feel, however the armrest isn’t something you’d want to put your hand or head on. If you want something a little more softer, adding a few extra pillows around the arms would be a great suggestion.
Still, it’s a yes from us! One of the many plus points is that you can always build your own custom sofa set with the modular Soderhamn. Whether to fit in the corner of your living room or as a grand sectional couch sitting in the center, just purchase a few sectional components and it’ll look great.

Hi there! Might be late to the comment section but I can’t seem to find an answer anywhere else. I have the couch, with two armrests and a seperate corner chair with both armrests. Is it possible to attach the corner chair directly to the couch to make it a corner “sectional”??
Has anyone does this? Please help!

Hey Kelly,
Yes – this is definitely possible, since the Soderhamn is a “modular” unit (which means that it is designed to be connected to other components). All you’ll have to do is disassemble the arms and attach the corner/sofa units together.
Might need some tool for this (like a screwdriver or an allen key), and you’re good 🙂

Hello,
The 3 seat sofa with armrests I want is now sold out.
I noticed I can buy the 3 seat without arms and the armrests seperately in different colours and find the correct armrest colour covers on eBay to get back to the single colour 3 seat sofa with armrests I want.
Qeuestion: can I attached the armrests sold seperatey to the 3 seater without armrests?

Hey Thomas, thanks for the question.
Short answer is – yes you can!
The Soderhamn is a modular series, meaning that each part/component can be disassembled and re-assembled to create the sofa you want. You may definitely use the 3-seater on its own, or with the armrests.
Tip: if you cannot find them in the same color, you can always opt to get custom slipcovers for them.

Unfortunately no – the Soderhamn ottoman does not have the entry points/holes to attach the armrests to them.
