Our Review

The IKEA Soderhamn is a unique yet stylish sofa design. Its thin armrests give it an extra modern and contemporary feel, however the armrest isn’t something you’d want to put your hand or head on. If you want something a little more softer, adding a few extra pillows around the arms would be a great suggestion.

Still, it’s a yes from us! One of the many plus points is that you can always build your own custom sofa set with the modular Soderhamn. Whether to fit in the corner of your living room or as a grand sectional couch sitting in the center, just purchase a few sectional components and it’ll look great.

    Hello
Im trying to hack my soderhamn cushions… I have a big l sectional and with a large family it always looks messy… the pillows in the back are alway all over the place… I would like to make custom seat cushions about double the depth and about two seats long… Also the same thing with the back… long back cushions and a bit more sturdy….. Overall a less messy looking couch…and streamlined a bit..
would you be able to make the covers if given the correct dimensions?

      Hey Karen!

Thanks for your inquiry, we can customise anything as long as you give us the correct dimensions so no problem there 🙂

If you could send a photo reference to us at info@comfortworks.com.au that’d be great to help get us on the same page as well.

Hope to hear from you soon!

    Hi Chuck,
I got this sofa a month ago, but its starting to get dirty under the cushions because they don’t exactly cover the whole seat.

I would appreciate any advice on how I could clean it and maintain it.
    Thank you,
    Ibra

      Hi Ibra,

Is it an IKEA original fabric? If so you’ll need to check with IKEA themselves or their website to see what’s the best way to clean it.

As far as we know, taking the covers to launder should be good enough 🙂

Prior to that do give it a good vacuum to get rid of any debris and coins before putting the covers into the wash – you don’t want any of these to get stuck or spoil your washing machine as well.

      Hope this helps!

    Hello.
I’m looking at this sofa system and really like it. But what I’m wondering is if I can make an effective and really comfy bed out of it, eg by putting a mattress on top of two sections. Gold down beds are usually unstable but a solid base (like the sections seem to be) might work. What do you think?

      Hi Richard,

That sounds very possible, and if the height is okay with you I believe it would work very well as a bed frame or at the very least a daybed 🙂

    Hey Chuck,
Trying to turn my Soderhamn two seat couch + chair into a full sectional. I’m going to buy the corner piece from Ikea but I’d like to match the fabric to what I have originally. It was the 2016 series where they had a “White”…now discontinued. It looks more cream to me. Do you recall the fabric colour and if so are you able to match it for my corner section piece + chair?
    Kindly,
    Fiona
