Cool Factor: Slipcovers and sofa are still available in IKEA across the glove. Easy to maintain with easy to remove slipcovers. Highly modular and can be grown and configured in many ways.
Ugh Factor: Few slipcover options available on IKEA, assembly can be a bit confusing especially at the very first step – the rotating bar can be rotated, but a lot of force is needed.

Our Review
The IKEA Soderhamn is a unique yet stylish sofa design. Its thin armrests give it an extra modern and contemporary feel, however the armrest isn’t something you’d want to put your hand or head on. If you want something a little more softer, adding a few extra pillows around the arms would be a great suggestion.
Still, it’s a yes from us! One of the many plus points is that you can always build your own custom sofa set with the modular Soderhamn. Whether to fit in the corner of your living room or as a grand sectional couch sitting in the center, just purchase a few sectional components and it’ll look great.

What cushions are at the sides of the couch against the armrests? I don’t believe those come with the original IKEA Soderhamn set.

Hi Amanda,
On the second picture you can see the small Soderhamn pillows that are a part of the set and on the last one the Soderhamn Corner Section Sofa that has 2 big and one small pillow in the set.
Hope this helps! 🙂

MISSING LEG BOLTS
My four chrome legs have short threaded rods inserted and attached already in the manual. These threaded pieces have not been inserted and they are not packed in the lounge as far as I can see. I am trying to use the short hex head bolts which seem to be spar as I am not joining the sections.
I JUST WONDER WHO IS DOING YOUR QUALITY CONTROL THESE DAYS.

Hey Barry,
Sorry to hear that happened to your Soderhamn set.
Unfortunately we aren’t IKEA, so we can’t help you out with that. I recommend contacting your local IKEA and seeing if the will be able to provide you the missing pieces.
Have a good one!

Hello! I was looking at a closeup of the 3-seat Soderhamn on Ikea’s website (it’s the fifth picture that they show) and noticed that the arms and the back of the sofa have topstitching on either side of the seams, instead of just having a plain seam. Do your covers have the same topstitching? I know it’s such a tiny detail, but I think it looks really sharp :>
Thanks very much in advance for your answer~!
by Omar
Hey Angie,
We make our slipcovers almost the same as IKEA’s but please do send us a photo of the topstitching that you’re after to info@comfortworks.com.au and we’ll see if we can accommodate your request.
Hope this helps!

Hi! I have the Soderhamn chaise lounge and I’m looking to replace the inner cushion for the large pillow it came with, and I’m not having any luck finding something that is the right size (about 35 x 20). Does anyone have advice on where I could purchase one?
Thanks!

Hi Chelsea,
We have a dedicate blogpost for this : https://www.comfort-works.com/news/where-to-get-replacement-cushion-foam-inserts/

SÖDERHAMN
Sectional, 4-seat, with chaise, Samsta dark gray.
This is the couch I have, we currently have the chaise on the right side but recently moved and was wondering if it’s possible to move it to the left side and if you know of instructions?
by Chuck
Hey Jade, the Soderhamn is one of the most modular couches I know actually.
Having said that – moving the chaise from left to right is no problem and instructions and assembly manuals and downloadable in the page that you’re viewing. Simply select the model that you need help with.
Generally the only couple of things you need to know are:
1) The Soderhamn Chaise is separated by a clamp underneath the section, so once this is removed you can move this section anywhere
2) The Soderhamn Chaise can be standalone, assuming you haven’t punctured holes into the cover to attach the armrest. If there are armrests on it already, then the holes exist. This is only a problem if you wish to have the Soderhamn chaise without armrests but if you’re moving from left to right (or vice versa) while still attaching the armrests, then the holes will be covered.
Hope this makes sense and helps!
