Cool Factor: Slipcovers and sofa are still available in IKEA across the glove. Easy to maintain with easy to remove slipcovers. Highly modular and can be grown and configured in many ways.
Ugh Factor: Few slipcover options available on IKEA, assembly can be a bit confusing especially at the very first step – the rotating bar can be rotated, but a lot of force is needed.

Our Review
The IKEA Soderhamn is a unique yet stylish sofa design. Its thin armrests give it an extra modern and contemporary feel, however the armrest isn’t something you’d want to put your hand or head on. If you want something a little more softer, adding a few extra pillows around the arms would be a great suggestion.
Still, it’s a yes from us! One of the many plus points is that you can always build your own custom sofa set with the modular Soderhamn. Whether to fit in the corner of your living room or as a grand sectional couch sitting in the center, just purchase a few sectional components and it’ll look great.

Does anyone know the dimensions for the large back pillows?
by Naomi
Hey Barbara!
From what I’ve measured, the larger back pillows are around 31″ x 19.7″. This is a rough measurement and you may get differing dimensions if you use a soft tape over your Soderhamn’s large back cushions.
Hope this helps 🙂

We have a Soderhamn sofa and after a couple of years have changed it’s configuration. I found the spare arm in the loft but I can’t find the four large screws. Does any one know where I can get these?
Thanks
by Naomi
Sorry to know that, Lynsey!
Unfortunately, we would not know where to get the exact screws (and we sure would not want to risk recommending an alternative that looks the same but may not fit), so the best bet here would be to try and get them from IKEA.
Good luck with this 🙂

Hi Lynsey,
Give your local Ikea a call. I had a similar issue with a different Ikea product last year, the screws weren’t in the box. They were able to help get me the right ones.

Hello there.
I would like to purchase the corner section and the one seat section but unfortunately the one seat sections are not available at the moment in the UK. If I bought two corner sections and left the arm off one so it becomes a one seat section would that work? Would I have to buy another single seat cover?
Many thanks for your help.
by Naomi
Hi Tim!
You can definitely do that. The Soderhamn is a modular series, which means you will definitely be able to remove one of the backrest pieces from the corner section as you please.Just be sure to check on the part where the backrest is removed, as you may not want that particular part to be exposed and show off its wooden insides.
Hope this works out for you!

Hi there! I have a right facing modular sofa with chaise. Is it possible to remove the arm rests and flip it to the other side? I am interested in buying one of your covers to upgrade the look.
by Naomi
Hey Hannah,
You can definitely do this since the Soderhamn is a modular series! However; with that being said, you technically would not have to flip the armrests in order to use our slipcovers as our slipcovers come in pieces – each piece fits each part of your sofa accordingly. All you’ll really have to do is follow the IKEA Soderhamn assembly manual in reverse to disassemble your sofa, remove its old covers (if any), put our covers on and then re-assemble your sofa.
Here are a few Soderhamn assembly manuals you may refer to:

Hi! Do the pieces have connector points or do they just kind of butt up next to each other? I worry about the sections separating when laying down etc.
by Naomi
Hey Sheena,
The Soderhamn units do indeed come with a connector to clamp one section to the other so that it won’t separate – this is done under the sofa frame and you may find the instructions for it on page 18 of the Soderhamn 3-seater sofa manual here – https://blog.comfort-works.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Soderhamn-3-seat-Section.pdf
Hope this helps!
