Kivik 3 seater in Performance Blend Cream fabric

Status Check.

Status: Sofa and Slipcover are available from IKEA, but for some reason the slipcovers are always out of stock.

Slipcover: IKEA Kivik slipcovers available from Comfort Works

Measurements: IKEA Kivik sofa dimensions and measurements.

Cool Factor: Large, spacious, contemporary and modern looking. It has large armrests that serve as additional seating and the armrests can be detached when joining the Kivik with any other Kiviks to create a Kivik sectional.

Ugh Factor:  Unnaturally low armrests which just doesn’t feel quite right. It’s also a little pricier than expected.

Our Review.

We were so excited to try the KIVIK for ourselves that we took the day to visit the IKEA store just see how the KIVIK felt in person. To read our full reviews and first impressions on the sofa, click here.

In short, the Kivik is actually quite a looker and somewhat comfortable for an IKEA sofa – but it’s just a little bit pricey.

Hi there, I’m looking for the Kivik Corner Section cover in dansbo dark grey. I already have the chaise and sofa and looking to get the corner piece but I can’t find dansbo dark grey anymore and love the colour. Do you think you could help me?

    Thank you!

      Hey Amanda,

A bit tricky as we’re a separate entity from IKEA altogether, so colour/fabric matching is not a 100%. However you can look through our range of fabrics to see which one is closest to the IKEA Dansbo dark grey here: http://comfort-works.com/en/home/fabric-samples-24

Order some samples to check them out in real life and place them next to your existing set, I’d say Gaia Charcoal may be the closest 🙂

      Hope this helps!

    Hi,

I have the kivic sofa and just purchased the chaise from a private owner. However, it did not come with the brackets to attach the chaise to the sofa. would it be possible to order this and ship it to the US?

    part no.

    121228 x2

      Hey Joven!

Unfortunately we aren’t affiliated with IKEA in any sense and don’t sell the parts that you need — your best bet is just to head down to your nearest IKEA store and get the brackets actually, sometimes you can even get it for free 🙂

      Hope this helps!

I bought a chaise secondhand and went to IKEA for the cover, bought kivek and it’s too big. Do u know if they changed the size dimensions of these pieces?
Tag on bottom of chaise says
    Carb 2
    1147
    Not sure if this helps.
    I want a beige slipcover

      Hey Brian,

We’ve not seen a tag like that before, not from IKEA at least – so it might not be an IKEA product after all.

If you’d like us to confirm this, you can send us a picture of your chaise to info@comfortworks.com.au

      Hope this helps!

Hi we have two kivik 2 seater sofas is it possible we can purchase a bracket to fit the two 2seaters together if we took 2 arms off to make a 4 seater as we want to change our room around

    • by Chuck
      Posted 2017-04-17 9:08 AM 0Likes

      Hey Tracy!

That’s definitely possible, but if you were to take the 2 arms off (which originally come with their own covers) the nuts and bolts of the 2 seater’s side would be exposed.

As an alternative, you could get three or four 1-seaters instead or we could custom make covers for you so that the sides are covered if that’s what you decide to proceed with 🙂

Hope that helps and make sense!

    Hi There!
I have a Kivik sofa bed that I would like to add a chaise to… It that possible? I also have noticed that the cover is all connected. Would I need to buy a new cover in order to cover the end/ new formation of the sofa.
    Thanks!

      Posted 2017-05-09 12:57 PM 0Likes

      Hey Lucy!

Personally we haven’t tried this, but it might not work unless you remove one of the track (attached to the bottom of the armrests) and install it onto the chaise instead.

Here’s the instruction manual to give you a better idea of what I mean: https://www.comfort-works.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Kivik-Sofa-Bed.pdf

Because the Kivik covers are individually covered (armrest has a cover, body frame has a cover, etc), you wouldn’t need to buy any new covers for the formation of the sofa 🙂

      Hope this helps!

      Hey Jo,

Not sure what your reference is but the Kivik loveseat dimensions would have been the same throughout the years — perhaps you could shoot us a photo to info@comfortworks.com.au and we’ll help you determine exactly which Kivik model/size you have.

Hope to hear from you soon!

I think Ikea has definitely changed the dimensions of the kivik series. I have a kivik sofa that was purchased five years ago and went to ikea this past weekend to buy a new sofa cover. My husband started to change out the cover this morning and it’s longer than the actual couch. The arms are about 1 1/2” longer and the couch base is about 6” longer.

Do you make covers for older kivik versions?

        • by Chuck
          Posted 2017-11-01 9:20 AM 0Likes

          Hey Alyssa!

It’s possible but unlikely that IKEA changed the dimensions of the Kivik sofa; The armrests are about 23cm wide and the middle frame is 180cm wide, so if your measurements match up with this then our covers would work for it 🙂

Otherwise, we can still custom make according to your dimensions – just shoot us a photo of your sofa to info@comfortworks.com.au and we’ll proceed from there.

          Hope this helps!

Hi, do you have any instructions or advice for DISASSEMBLING this sofa, specifically how to take the armrests off of the main frame? We have this sofa but are moving into a new apartment, and I don’t think the fully assembled sofa will fit in the elevator or stairwell of our current building.
    Thanks!

Hi Katie, we don’t have a disassembly guide but maybe this video would help you disassemble your Kivik: https://vimeo.com/35985551

Just note where the armrest joints are and you would be able to remove them from the sofa frame. This should allow you to move your Kivik sofa with more ease.

      Hope this helps. ?

We have the Kivik Sectional, 5 Seat-Corner. Unfortunately, in our new space the longer side is too long. We are looking at the least expensive way to change it up to fit. Is it possible to buy the kivik loveseat and use it to replace the longer edge of the sectional (by taking an arm off the loveseat and attaching the loveseat to sectional)? Are the arms removable like that? Would we then be able to make a new sofa with the old long edge of sectional and the arm we removed from the loveseat? Thanks for any guidance!!!

      Posted 2018-09-03 3:23 PM 0Likes

Hi Stacey, your corner sectional would fit with both the loveseat and the sofa so your idea would work pretty well. You can also attach the arms onto your old 3-seater section to turn it into a stand-alone sofa because the Kivik’s arms’sizes are uniform between the 3-seater and 2-seaters. ?

      Hi Sandra,

That’s a fabulous idea. However, you might want to check with your local IKEA store if they have stock of only the Kivik armrests.

      Hope that helps!

    Hi there,

Could you please provide the answers for a few height measurements?

    1) Floor to top of couch frame (back)
    2) Floor to top of back cushion
    3) Leg height

I’m trying to determine if a semi-disassembled Kivik could fit through a narrow hallway. Thanks!

      Hi there AJ,

The rough measurements of the back of the Kivik would be about 70 cm. The leg height would be approximately 10 cm high.

      Hope this helps.

Do you know if the Kivik corner section but without the corner has the same dimensions as the loveseat? So if I wanted to do just that two-seat section with a pair of Kivik arms, will a Kivik loveseat set of covers fit?

    • by Chuck
      Posted 2019-03-11 1:12 PM 0Likes

      Hey Julianne!

By default from IKEA, the Kivik Corner section minus the corner is indeed the 2-seat section 🙂

So as per your query, if you wanted a 2-seat section + a pair of arms then yes – the Kivik Loveseat covers should theoretically fit.

      Hope this helps!

I’m looking to separate my 5-seat Kivik sectional into a separate sofa and loveseat. The problem is needing 2 more Kivik arms to do so? Does anybody have plans on how to make these yourself? or a place/website in which they might be able to be purchased?

Hey Brian, from what we know IKEA does manufacture these sofas in parts – I’m not a 100% sure whether it’s sold separately but it’s worth a try since the Kivik still exists at IKEA 🙂

      Good luck!

I have been to two different Ikeas (Chicago, and Columbus (where I am from) now, and unfortunately the Kivik couch does NOT sell the arms separately. The Ikea in Chicago was way more helpful, and told me to continue looking in as-is sections at Ikea and to scour craigslist etc for them. I was told by the Columbus Ikea that it is not possible to separate the sectional into two different sofas, which I found extremely frustrating as the manuals for the sectional are from the sofa! 🙂

          Posted 2019-10-21 1:08 PM 0Likes

I hear you Brian – the customer service rep in Chicago sounds like he knew what he was talking about. Those are the next couple of avenues we’d probably recommend as well. The customer service rep at Columbus sounds a bit confused as I’m very sure the sectional can be separated into 2 different sofas.

It’s just going to be very difficult to find those 2 separate arms!

I bought a new kivik sofa and a used loveseat. Turns out the connector kit comes with the loveseat (since i bought it used they didn’t have it) and they don’t sell them anywhere separately. It is quite an extensive package of parts. Any idea where I could get the parts? Ikea has been no help. Thank you!

Hi, I am wanting to replace the two cushions on the Kivik Chaise Lounge, do you have the measurements by any chance? Thank you

    • by Chuck
      Posted 2020-07-14 12:49 PM 0Likes

      Hey Ashleigh!

We do have the measurements but we’d encourage using the original slipcovers and even bringing it to your local upholsterer/foam maker to determine the sizing for your cushion inserts.

Typically cushions need to be a little bigger than the covers, so we might end up doing you a disservice if you used our measurements and the covers turn out too loose for your inserts.

      Hope this helps!

    • by Naomi
      Posted 2020-09-28 8:45 PM 0Likes

      Absolutely, Lisa!

Since the Kivik is a modular series, you’ll have to follow IKEA’s Kivik loveseat and corner section assembly manual. We usually recommend doing this with a friend or a partner, as it’s definitely a two-person activity 🙂

Not sure Livvy, the 1-seater Kivik sofa seems to be obsolete in most places indeed. We’d recommend trying to find a second-hand unit online – maybe look through Craigslist, Amazon, or even Etsy? Kaiyo might have it too.

      Good luck 🙂

      Posted 2021-01-28 6:13 PM 0Likes

      Heya Cathy,

As a modular unit, the Kivik models are definitely able to fully disassemble such that both arms detach from the frame. All you will need is the IKEA Kivik assembly manual (links available in the blog post) and follow it in reverse wherever needed. It’s definitely much easier to accomplish with a partner 🙂

      Good luck!

Do you have the measurements for a single Kivik loveseat cushion versus a single Kivik sofa cushion? I am trying to remember which we have, and this would be very helpful info! Thank you!

    • by Naomi
      Posted 2021-04-02 12:59 PM 0Likes

      Hey Nicole!

The Kivik loveseat vs sofa sections can be easily distinguished by comparing their overall width from the front, arm-to-arm.

      Kivik sofa (3-seater) – 228 cm / 90″
      Kivik loveseat – 190 cm / 75″

We typically don’t use cushion measurements simply because they do have the tendency to compress over time, and this may cause their dimensions to change slightly. Strange, I know! But the frame being firm, stays more or less the same 🙂

      Hope this helps.

Ps* We actually seem to get similar questions on how to tell apart Kivik models – just wondering if anyone else has the same concern/why this is so? Let us know your thoughts – we’d love to read/hear it!

Hey Lindsey, sorry for the late one!

I had gone ahead and checked the IKEA website for the Kivik sofa + chaise packaging size and found this:

      SOFA SECTION:
      Width: 36 ¾ ”
      Height: 19 ¾ ”
      Length: 72 ½ ”
      Weight: 118 lb 1 oz
      Package(s): 1
      Width: 36 ¼ ”
      Height: 11 ”
      Length: 38 ½ ”
      Weight: 53 lb 12 oz
      Package(s): 1

      CHAISE PACKAGE:
      Width: 35 ½ ”
      Height: 10 ½ ”
      Length: 81 ½ ”
      Weight: 98 lb 2 oz
      Package(s): 1

I’m not sure about the space in a Ford Escape – but as long as it can fit some 37″ x 82″ boxes, it should be alright 🙂
