Our Review.

The IKEA Nikkala was introduced in the early 2000s and discontinued in 2007 and frankly – a lot of people out there are actually wondering why it was discontinued especially when it was such a sturdy and comfy couch.

One thing to note: the IKEA Nikkala slipcover has 2 versions – one with a Hard/Hook velcro, and the other with a Soft/Loop. This gets confusing at times, possibly a reason why they discontinued as the slipcovers didn’t match the sofa.

Although the Nikkala 3 seater sofa has been discontinued in IKEA stores, Comfort Works is still producing replacement slipcovers for the IKEA Nikkala. Our Nikkala slipcovers also comes in the original IKEA snug version, as well as our very own long skirt version.

Sure we can but just remember that we’re not the same as entity as IKEA, so all our fabrics are different and if you’re looking to match a specific colour, it’s best to get some samples here firstly: http://comfort-works.com/home/free-fabric-samples-24

Once you’ve found something that works for you, drop me a message at info@comfortworks.com.au and we can get started on your custom made covers 🙂

      Cheers!

    Hi there,
I’ve been searching for this Nikkala slip covers. Mine is the one with the Velcro strap. If I want exactly the same material and color (beige) for the covers, do you have it in stock and how much would be the overall charges?

    Thanks,
    – Liz –

      Hi Liz!

There are actually 2 kinds of velcro for the Nikkala slipcovers – it’s either the Hard/Hook (feels rough), or the Soft/Loop (feels like the surface of a fuzzy tennis ball), so you’ll need to select this accordingly if you’re purchasing this via our site. The unfortunate thing is that our fabrics are quite different from IKEA’s, so we won’t be able to get exactly the same material and colour for you, but do feel free to see if there’s something similar or simply to your liking by getting some fabric samples firstly: http://comfort-works.com/en/home/fabric-samples-24

Everything’s custom made to order, so it does take about 2-3 weeks for delivery – prices in their respective fabric options can all be found on the Nikkala product page here: http://comfort-works.com/en/nikkala-sofa-covers-38

      Hope this helps!

Hi, my husband and I have an old nikkala sofa that I acquired from a friend in 2003 in an unholy fuchsia color. It’s still super comfy and the springs are still solid so we decided to bring it out of storage & recover it. We love the swatches we received from you and are ready to order a new cover however, I’m not sure which Velcro to order… Both our couch AND our current cover appear to have hard/hook Velcro… should we order the cover with soft/loop velcro to better stick to the couch, or hard/hook like the cover I’ve had for the last 14 years?
    Thank you!

      Hey Megan!

That’s pretty interesting – from the sound of it sounds like it doesn’t really matter, but did you have any issues for the past 14 years?

If you think that the stickiness isn’t effective, do send an email (info@comfortworks.com.au) with a photo of the velcro on your slipcover and we can double confirm to see if the soft/loop may work better 🙂

Hope to hear form you soon!
